Ground Glass Photography · Kent, WA · South King County
Your pet,
painted in light.
Fine art portrait sessions in South King County and beyond.
Our approach
Not a photo booth.
A portrait session.
Ground Glass was built by a painter first. The same chiaroscuro instincts — dramatic shadow, warm documentary light, honest expression — that go into oil portraits on canvas go into every photograph we make of your pet.
We shoot outdoors, in the environments your pet loves: PNW trails, open fields, golden-hour parks, your own backyard. The result isn’t a product shot. It’s a portrait.
01
Outdoor-first
Natural light in the Pacific Northwest is extraordinary. We use it intentionally — never fighting it, always sculpting with it.
02
Personality-driven
We watch before we shoot. Every pet has a signature moment — the tilt of the head, the stillness before the leap. We wait for it.

Questions, answered.
Where do sessions take place?
Primarily outdoors — parks, trails, fields, and natural spaces throughout South King County and the Greater Seattle area. We can also shoot at your home if your pet is more comfortable there, especially for elderly or anxious animals. If you have a favourite spot, we’d love to use it.
What if my pet won’t stay still or doesn’t follow commands?
Most pets don’t. We’re not looking for obedience — we’re looking for personality. Bring high-value treats and their favourite toy. We’re patient, we move slowly, and we wait for the right moments rather than forcing them. Leashes are completely fine and can be removed in editing.
Do I need to choose a digital package before the session?
No. Your session fee holds your date. Digital packages are selected after you’ve seen your gallery, so you can choose based on what you actually love — not a guess beforehand. There’s no pressure and no time limit on browsing your gallery.
Can I be in the photos with my pet?
Absolutely. Adding family members is $50 per person. For the Adventure session, pets and people together is the default — it’s built for full-family lifestyle portraiture.
What if the weather is bad on shoot day?
We can reschedule at no charge with 48 hours’ notice. Overcast PNW light is often our favourite to shoot in — soft, even, and naturally dramatic. Full rain is usually the only reason we’d move dates.
Do you photograph cats and other pets?
Yes — cats, rabbits, horses, and most other animals are welcome. For cats and more sedentary pets, an in-home session often works best. For horses and larger animals, the Adventure session is ideal.
